ARGENTINA Waterfowl and Wing Shooting
Duck and Perdiz Hunting
In an
area about an hour flight from Buenos Aires Argentina lies
a wingshooters' paradise! The flat farmlands provide phenomenal
opportunities for Duck and Perdiz (Partridge) hunting.
Duck
Hunting
The
ducks are hunted in flooded farmland areas in approximately
2-3 foot water. Blinds are natural wetland reeds and each
hunter is provided a swamp stool. The mud is not mucky at
all and provides easy walking. Chest waders are a necessity
on our duck hunts. Decoys around the hunting area are typical.
The hunting is done with two hunters per blind. Each hunter
pair will have their own personal driver and birdboy. Every
day you can expect to change swamps so as to have a top quality
hunting experience.

Typical
Duck Hunting Day
Following an American breakfast, hunters are transported
to the field. Accompanying each hunter is a guide or birdboy
who carries shells, places the hunters in the blind, sets
decoys, calls the birds (usually by whistling) and caters
to your every need. Before noon, hunters return to the house
or local restaurant for drinks and lunch. If returning to
the house you may choose to have have a little siesta before
returning to the field for the afternoon hunt. Duck hunts
take place in the mornings and afternoons and a hunter who
can shoot straight can expect to shoot 25+ birds per hunt,
i.e. ~ 50 per day.
Perdiz
Hunting
Perdiz hunting is done in the afternoon only and is very
similar of that of quail hunting. Yes, these Perdiz are wild
and they fly like a very wild birds! They are single birds
by nature so you and your hunting partner would take turns
shooting. They utilize a point dog, usually a Brittany Spaniel.
You can expect to shoot ~12 birds total for an afternoon of
hunting for a hunting pair. Not the same volume as that of
the ducks but a great experience non-the-less.
Yes, there is an occasional rabbit that runs by. Man are those
rabbits huge! Hunting is done in flat farmland with grass
about six inches high.
Lodging
Facilities
The lodging facility is a quaint and comfortable Estancia
with all amenities and comforts of home. There is adequate
heating and guests can enjoy the quiet fire that burns every
evening in the dining room's fireplace. There are accommodations
for up to 8 hunters at a time.

Meals
Drinks and food are devine at this place! The cook is
the wife of the outfitter and they have other helpers that
are sons, cousins, and other family members assisting with
the preparation. There is nothing cheap about the food or
drink you will be offered. There are many types of wines,
beer, and liquor provided. After a day or two, they'll have
your favorite beverage waiting for you when you arrive back
at the lodge without even asking.
Outfitter
Our trip provides an excellent hunting experience for
the serious hunter, comfortable accommodations, and great
food and drink. It reminds me of a small family owned Mom
and Pop guide service here in the states with no commercialized
glamour or expense.
