Q. Why should I buy a Four Rivers Layout Boat?
A. This boat was designed by a serious
duck hunter who had the old wood style layout and wanted
something that weighed less and did not have to worry about
rot and maintenance on his wood boat. He wanted a boat that
could handle every hunting situation that he would get into,
and not have to worry about it. If you purchase a Four Rivers
Layout Boat, you can stop worrying about how you are going
to get to the ducks, and start thinking about what you are
going to do when you have limited out and you still have
over half the day left.

Q. How effective is layout boat hunting?
A. This style of hunting is very effective
with little effort. With the low profile design and a sheet
or two of Fast Grass® and you can become almost invisible
to the ducks. You can get into very shallow water where
the ducks go and you could not get to them before.

Q. How stable is a Four Rivers Layout Boat?
A. This boat is designed to be very stable,
you do not have to be afraid to stand up in the boat. The
boat is actually stable enough for a 180# man to walk around
the outside edge of the boat without fear of tipping the
boat over.

Q. How do I attach the Fast Grass®?
A. The boat comes with 2 sheets of 4'
X 4' Fast Grass®. If you take the sheets and fold
them in half and cut the height of the sheet in half,
you will have 4 sheets measuring 2' X 4'. Attach these
to the side of the cockpit with rope, bungee cord or
something similar and you are ready to hunt.

Q. Do I need to camouflage my Four Rivers Layout
Boat?
A1 - Open Water If you are hunting
in the open water, you do not need to do anything. The
boat comes in a standard water gray color. When the ducks
are flying over, the boat blends in with the water, thus
almost making it invisible to them. In rough water, a
few strips of thin white paint resemble little waves.
A2 - Grass or Timber Line If you are
hunting in grass areas, we offer a cloth cover that will
cover the boat very quickly and with very little effort.

Q. Can I paddle my Four Rivers Layout Boat?
A. The boats are designed with runners
under the boat to keep it tracking with very little effort.
The boats only draft about 3-4" of water, so they move
with very little effort, and a kayak paddle is very light
weight to have to haul around as gear, thus leaving more
room for decoys, or other hunting gear.

Q. How much water does the boat draft?
A. The boat drafts as little as 2"
and as much as 5" depending how much weight the boat
is carrying.

Q. Is the Four Rivers Layout Boat better than other
boats?
A. Any boat company who makes a boat
makes a good boat, otherwise they would not be in business
today. The best boat for a individual depends on want the
individual is looking for. It is just like Ford, Chevy and
Dodge vehicles, you can ask 100 different people who makes
a better vehicle and you would have 100 different reasons
why who is better.

Q. How do I anchor the boat?
A. The boat is equipped with cleats and
rope handles to aid in this. If you are in shallow water,
a closet rod with a point ground on one end works very well
through a rope handle, or tied to a cleat. If you are in
deep water, than an anchor will be needed and tied to a
cleat at the front or side of the cockpit.

Q. Do you have another question?
A. A. Email it to me at Jay@BaileyOutdoors.com and I will answer it and
post it here for others to see and perhaps learn some of
the benefits of
owning a Four Rivers Layout Boat or Beavertail Mud Motor.
